Located in Amsterdam in the year 2050, the floating Schiphol Marina was a hypothetical project, which foresaw an evolving urban relationship with water due to projected densification, climate change, and an increase in water transport.
The design of the building is derived from the borders found within the site. To the north is the dense urban fabric of Amsterdam and to south is the Nieuwe Meer lake and the protected Amsterdamse Bos Forest. These two features impact on the internal arrangement of the building - public/ commercial spaces are located south facing for peaceful views and daylight, workshops and industrial spaces are located facing the city.
